The Fotogramma d'Oro Short Film Festival has lauded two Iran short titles with top awards.

The 51st edition of the Italian screening event bestowed Special Award for Best Cinematography to ‘Are You Volleyball?!’ by Mohammad Bakhshi.  

Bakhshi has revealed the story of a group of Arab speaking asylum seekers who have lost their pacifications during the war and are seeking a better place in the world to live in. They arrive on the border and the story starts.

‘Short Wave’ by Mohammad Esmaeeli has also took home Best Film Award from the event.  

‘Short Wave’ is adapted from a story written by Gholam-Hossein Saedi. It tells the story of a man who is struggling with the annoying sound of his environment and shows his attempts to silence them.

The short has succeeded to previously grab an award from the 15th edition of the Annual West Chester International Short Film Festival in the US.

Department of Culture and Entertainment of the Municipality of Messina, the Italian Association for the History of Cinema Research (AIRSC) and Association of former students of the University of Messina (AluMnime) cooperate to organize the Fotogramma d'Oro.

The 51st edition of the Fotogramma d'Oro (meaning Golden Frame) was held on May 22-25, 2019 in Italy.
